Little Red River

Little Red River (call name “River”) is an incredibly beautiful, sweet, mild mannered snuggler of a dog.  Due to a severe heart murmur he’s had since birth, he is not a breeder and is neutered.  We keep him as our much loved pet as we will do with all of our dogs even after they retire.

We love him for who he is and he loves us and our other dogs unconditionally.   He’s a little OCD about changes around the house since anything that makes his heart race unexpected makes him nervous but he always calms down.  He loves water but not swimming.  he frets when any of the dogs or puppies get agitated too much when playing.  He can’t stand for us to be outside without him but always heads back indoors if he gets too hot.

Little Red River was named the way he was because he was so very little when he was born.  He is our neutered boy that is Harley’s constant companion. River is not a breeder but he is a sweet and beautiful boy and is our designated 86lb snuggler. River is Harley’s brother and was the runt of the litter; he barely survived; he would not have were it not for the labor of love performed by his breeder.   River suffers from a grade 5 heart murmer and for that reason cannot be a breeder.  To prevent “accidents”  we elected to neuter him but he’s caring, attentive, empathetic and a great companion for Harley when we are busy with other things. He LOVES our blow drier and water (but not swimming strangely enough) and is the bringer of everything from our forest; he often brings logs that are too big to fit through the door.

His favorite place to be is on the couch between the two of us.  We don’t know how long we have with him but we treasure every moment.

UPDATE:  River crossed the rainbow bridge 5/30/2021.  He had a heart defect from birth and we knew it was coming but it still hurts.  He outlived the odds and we thoroughly enjoyed him while we had him and will miss him early.  Rest in peace River; you were a good boi
